Law, governance, policy and research

Uloma Okoro

Lawyer, AI Governance and Public Policy Researcher.

I work at the intersection of law, institutional governance, compliance and emerging technology policy. My research and public-facing work focus on AI governance, digital regulation, responsible innovation, comparative policy analysis and institutional readiness in Africa and beyond.

About me

A legal and policy profile shaped by regulated industries, research leadership and public interest in responsible AI.

I am a lawyer, compliance leader and policy researcher based in Lagos, Nigeria. My work brings together corporate law, regulatory compliance, data governance, AI policy and public-facing research. Across my legal and governance career, I have worked in fintech, insurance, aviation, technology policy and commercial legal practice, with a strong focus on translating complex regulatory issues into practical decisions for boards, executives and institutional audiences.

My current research interest is the governance of artificial intelligence, especially the legal, ethical and institutional conditions that make AI systems trustworthy, accountable and context-sensitive. I write on comparative AI regulation, responsible AI adoption, African policy readiness, digital compliance and the role of law in shaping technology governance.

I also coordinate cross-jurisdictional research and contribute to AI governance conversations through fellowship work, policy writing, academic publications, training, public speaking and collaborative research projects.
